Interfaith Chaplain

What is Interfaith Chaplain/Spiritual Care?
The Interfaith Chaplain/Spiritual Care at CVMC is committed to supporting the healing process by discovering, honoring, and tending to the human spirit. We help patients and family members who are facing challenges due to illness or injuries through respectful attention to each person’s spirituality, religious beliefs, dignity and privacy.  These services are available to patients and families of all faiths and those with no faith affiliation. A chapel is located on the second floor of the hospital. It is a quiet sanctuary for people of all faiths to be apart, to sit quietly, reflect or pray.

Our Services and Hours of operation
The Interfaith chaplain is on-site or on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week based upon patient needs. The services we offer include:
  • individualized assessment of spiritual needs
  • spiritual interventions, such as support, counseling, prayer and crisis support
  • sacramental ministry
  • notification to patients’ congregation upon patient request
  • integration and cooperation with community clergy
  • consultations for ethical decisions
  • group support for patients and families
  • training and support for medical center staff
Also available:
  • Community clergy can visit with patients and family members when requested.
  • Catholic communion is provided on request by a Religious Sister volunteer.
