Palliative CareWhat is Palliative Care? Palliative Care enhances quality of life by relieving pain and suffering, improving the quality of living and dying for people with chronic, terminal or life-limiting illness. The Palliative Care Team works with doctors and patients so that patients and their loved ones do not suffer from uncontrolled physical, psychological or spiritual pain.
Our Services and Hours of Operation: We are here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, based upon patient needs. Our services may include: - relieving side effects and symptoms for patients undergoing treatment aimed at curing illness
- pain management
- support to patients and their loved ones caregivers and staff
- assistance with disease management decisions, end of life decisions, symptom management
- help with placement issues, such as for long term care
- bereavement referrals, when a loved one has died
- education
Staff: Our physicians are board certified in palliative care. Our registered nurses are trained in palliative care, hospice and cancer care. The care team also includes dieticians, care managers, social workers, pharmacists and an interfaith chaplain, as necessary, to meet each patient's particular needs.
