Dr. Andrew Felsted joins CVMC Emergency Department staff | | November 9, 2009  Andrew Felsted, D.O. has joined the Emergency Department staff at Central Vermont Medical Center. He was most recently affiliated with Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
“We are pleased that Dr. Felsted has joined CVMC’s staff. He’s an excellent addition to our outstanding team of physicians and nurses who provide quality care for the community,” said Mark Depman, M.D. Medical Director of the Emergency Department.
Dr. Felsted was raised in Iowa where he received his B.S. from Iowa State University and attended medical school at Des Moines University earning his Doctor of Osteopathy. He did a general rotating internship at Mount Clemens Hospital in Michigan and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the same institution, serving as Chief Resident in his final year.
He worked in the Emergency Department at Marlette Community Hospital in Michigan and as an Urgent Care Physician at Port Huron Hospital and Port Huron Industrial Health, both in Michigan.
Dr. Felsted is board certified in emergency medicine and has additional certifications in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), basic life support (BLS), advanced trauma life support (ATLS), pediatric advanced cardiac life support (PALS), and advanced life support in obstetrics(ALSO).
“I was working in the Detroit area and decided I wanted to work in a smaller community where I could be involved in winter sports and other outdoor activities. I looked out west and in the east, and decided on Vermont,” he explained. “I’m really impressed with the nursing staff at CVMC. Everybody is very professional and very nice.”
Dr. Felsted lives in Waterbury with his wife, internist Laura Felsted, D.O. He enjoys mountain biking, golf and skiing.
