July 13, 2009 Berlin, VT –Central Vermont Medical Center’s hospital recently went-live with an on-line registration option accessible at www.cvmc.org.
It works similar to other on-line sites. The patient can create a password protected account which will “remember” all of the information entered, name, address, insurance information, information about a specific appointment etc.
When going to a second appointment at a later date, the patient can review the information submitted previously, make changes, if any, add information about the new appointment, and submit. A patient can also register on-line for a one-time use without creating a password or saving information.
The first time a patient uses on-line registration and when insurance information changes he or she will have to stop at registration to have the insurance card scanned. Otherwise, if registered on-line, the patient can go directly to the appointment, totally bypassing registration.
“We believe a certain cadre of patients are used to working on line and prefer it,” noted Curtis Kerbs, information systems vice president. “This is another component in our on-going campaign to increase patient satisfaction. Over the long term we also believe it will save time and money.”
